Make it public
We recently tried to go to our friends' anniversary party on the roof of the new Public Hotel (with @yourfriendsilas in tow of course... he loves parties... and rooftops... and friends).
When it turned out he wasn't allowed upstairs, we got a last minute room so I could party in the room with Silas while Doug visited our friends--a happy, unplanned staycation with the babe.
While the room was quite small, the design was really smart and efficient, placing the sink in the hallway of the room (inset into a wall of vertical dowels that disguised various closets and the minifridge) so the tiny bathroom could elegantly house the Laufen toilet and the curbless shower.
The shower featured a glass surround, tinted with a rose-gold colored film, recalling the glass showers at Schrager's Hudson hotel on the UWS.
Apart from an unusual method of securing food (you pick it up in the lobby, which would be fine unless you're watching a sleeping 👶), and a party scene that's still finding its way (according to Doug) it's an impressive space that makes you feel like you've left your everyday for something glamorous, thoughtful and fun.
